Who we are
A family name in Missouri water wells
B&H Well Drilling & Pump Service, Inc. has been a familiar name in the water well industry in Central Missouri since starting the business in 1989. The Bonnot family name goes back further still — to 1953, when Greg’s dad Edward (Cap) and his uncle Don started Bonnot Brothers Rotary Well Drilling.
Greg was alongside them as a child until their retirement in 1984. After high school, he and Donna bought their first drilling rig and went into business for themselves. The H is for Earl and Margaret Heinlein of Heinlein Pump Service, who helped them get established around Hermann.
How a well gets drilled
Our five step process
We like to meet every customer before the project begins, so the owner knows exactly how the operation runs.

Site assessment and preparation
We assess the site to determine the best location for the well, studying the geological conditions and obtaining the necessary permits. The site is then cleared and prepared for the drilling equipment.

Drilling the well
Using rotary drilling, a bit made of durable material like tungsten is attached to connected lengths of drill pipe. The drill grinds the rock while drilling fluid flushes the cuttings out, cools and lubricates the bit, and stabilises the walls of the hole.

Handling rock layers and water strikes
As drilling progresses our drillers monitor the depth of water strikes and the rock formations encountered, so the right pressure is applied through each layer of sand, gravel, clay and rock.

Installing the well casing
Once the depth is reached and water-bearing formations are found, steel or plastic casing is installed to stop the hole collapsing and protect the water from contamination. The annulus between hole and casing is filled with grout to seal it.

Finalising the well
The well is developed and tested to be sure it meets the standards for water flow and quality, then properly capped and secured — ready to supply the property.

Wells, depths and what it costs
How long will it take to drill a well?
Normally we can drill your well in one day. After that, we will have our pump crew come in to install your pump system, which will also normally take one day.
How deep do you have to drill my well to get water?
Every area is different. Depths can range from 150′ to 700′. Call for a free estimate.
How much will this cost?
Most wells are priced by the depth and size of the well. After the initial contact, we can meet you at your property to discuss location options.
Do I need a permit?
No. After your well is drilled, we will submit a well registration report to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
